Niki's Short reviews, Part 1: On Horizon Dreams by Anthony Rhead

NikiPleva

I am first and foremost a writer with undeniable passion for storytelling. Well, unless you ignore my unhealthy passion for chocolate, that is. However, I am not only confined to the realms of writing, no sir! I am also an avid reader (when I get out from the world of procrastination, that is) who takes great pleasure in sharing my thoughts, through short and sweet reviews. Not in a way where I am writing hokey-pokey. The review still needs to be truthful, but nowhere in my years of reading, have I read anything which deserved a bad review.

And besides.

The review is a way to bring a smile to author's face, knowing that their hard work has been appreciated. It is a small gesture that costs nothing and when you, a reader, comprehend the effort and commitment poured into the creation, it becomes a necessity to leave a review.

The main reason I am doing this, however, is because I feel self-published (indie) authors do not get enough recognition as they truly deserve. Even more sometimes, because they are essentially the ones who do everything themselves; from writing the book to actually marketing it to meet potential readers.

But without further ado, let us begin this journey with Anthony Rhead's, "On Horizon Dreams".

Firstly, the cover...

When I am picking a poetry book, I always radiate towards simple design, which truthfully reflects the content and mood of the poetry. Despite it being a very straightforward design, Anthony met my expectations of a beautiful picturesque cover image (I love myself a beautiful hues in the sky) with simple font. It is clear to read and does not distract from the overall book cover. As they say, in simplicity is beauty.

And then I opened the book itself...

I purchased Anthony's poetry book, On Horizon Dreams, because I have found him on X (Twitter) and I, like many others, love to support self-published authors. So after a captivating description on Amazon, I have purchased it and boy, was I so happy that I did. To put it simply, I was completely captivated once I opened the first poem on my kindle.

Someone has mentioned in one of the review; "you can tell that most were written for Twitter because they are mostly very short and I think they would work better when you only see one at a time." But the fact that these poems are short is what makes it so charming for the eye and simple to devour.

As soon as I sat down to read the poetry, I simply could not put down until I reached the last page on the same day. Anthony's poetic talent is unmissable and his inspiring words take you on a journey through nature and life's ups and downs, as if you were soaring with a bird above a vast ocean.

To put it simply, It's an emotional journey you willingly embark on with every turn of a page.
