Most of you reading this might wonder "who in the world is this?" Well, let me introduce myself and at the same time, welcome you to this blog and all it has to offer.
My name is Niki Pleva and I am a high fantasy author wishing to find something for every soul of this world. How, you ask? I am willing to share a life journey with anyone who even slightly wonders what happens in the afterlife. I am willing to share my imagination and with it, praise all the people we have lost.
The idea of a blog came to me in 2019 while I was suffering from a writer's block. That has lasted a good amount of 2020 and 2021 as well and unfortunately, many factors contributed to the lack of motivation and imagination. I will share with you in the future how I overcame it and perhaps it will assist you in overcoming your own struggles you may have.
Now, I could not be happier. Because of the period of not writing, I fell in love with Slavic mythology, the history of its origin and the origin of Slavic people. Along the way, I started to adore high fantasy books and its many authors. Perhaps, there is a reason to love fantasy books more than others. Perhaps it is one of the hardest genres to write.
Without this period of drought, I would never know what real writing is and what it truly take to write a book, to plan a book and to be completely and utterly in love with its characters and its world.
And I am to share all these thoughts with you all, through many articles about Greek mythology, Slavic mythology, the history of its people, the history of Slavic ancestors, the author's research, literary history and many more subjects.
Meet my partner in crime
Somehow always there when I write and somehow always hogging papers when I need them. But he is a very important part of my writing schedule and my life. His name is Simba, a sweet and calm Persian-chinchilla cat who always finds new ways to get my attention.
He even meows when he enters the living room to greet me and keeps on meowing until I meow back.
How did I first get Simba?
Simba was first bought into my sister's family in April 2010 but because she was leaving the UK in 2016 and could not keep him, I jumped at the opportunity and adopted him. And since then, he keeps me company in the best of times and in the worst of times.
A lover of Nature
The ability to turn off from daily life is the most important thing for an author. Our mind is busy floating with ideas and it's easy to burn out. To simply lose the interest in our schedule. This is one of the reasons why authors experience a temporary writer's block.
Boredom from the everyday life.
For me, I have a busy schedule working as a full time Health and safety project coordinator and on top of that, making the time for my passion; writing. It is easy to burn out on such an intense schedule therefore it is important to find the time for myself. I will share with you in the future blog post how I do this and how I plan my day.
The most important thing when it comes to my schedule is regular visits to the nature. A breath of fresh air amongst the massive trees providing everlasting protection. A moment of thought as I sit on a soft grass overlooking a murmuring lake. A magnificent view from a mountain showing me how truly small humans are; imagining I was a mere bird flying and feeling the wind stroking my feathers.
Why did I pick afterlife as the main subject?
I have lost many important people to cancer. All very individual and painful experiences. However the most painful of them all, was loosing my father in March 2016.
I was there with him on 7th day of the month, standing next to his bed when he breathed out his last breath. It was also the first sunny day of the year, as if the heavens celebrated his incoming soul, as if the angels praised their new addition. The few next months were a blur of expecting him to open the door again as he came home from work. Yet that has not happened again.
Never will happen again.
That was the very year I started thinking about all the other people who experienced loss and grief. How can I provide refuge to people struggling with all these emotions weighing them down? How can I create a community of people who can support each other in their most difficult times of their life? I can do this though my passion of writing and through my passion of empathy.
Together, we can create something which can help anyone who goes though any types of hardships in life
